From my work as a life coach I derived an exercise that allows to get a feeling of one’s own inner balance of one´s inner masculine and feminine.
How about my own inner balance?
Briefly put, the left side of the body is considered our “feminine side” and the right side of our body our “masculine side”.
Many psychologically informed people know that issues with the left side of the body often indicate a theme with the mother. Just as symptoms on the right side of the body can express issues with the father.
That makes it already interesting to test whether one has – standing on one leg – more stability on the left or on the right foot.
Furthermore one can draw a masculinity sign and a femininity sign (or simply write “my inner masculine” and “my inner feminine”) on two separate pieces of paper and then stand on them – with one foot each. Then the interesting question is: do you feel more comfortable with the masculinity sign under the right foot and the femininety sign under the left or vice versa? Is that always the same? Or does it change, from day to day, from situation to situation?
A short interpretation:
Most people are more stable with the masculinity sign under their right foot and the femininity sign under their left. That means their inner masculine is taking the lead, is active, is giving and expressive. Whereas the feminine side follows this lead trustingly, is more passive, receptive and rather perceptive.
However, sometimes it is important, that the masculine-active part is not leading, but the feminine-passive and that the masculine-active part yields to the feminine. For in certain situations we have to be “actively” passive and our attitude is not one of doing, but one of actively “letting happen”. So it can be quite enlightening to regularly check what offers more stability. You can check that for specific situations. It suffices to simply ask the question – while you are standing on the papers: “Which attitude concerning person X or situation Y makes me more stable?” And then move the papers and your feet until you feel stable!
